Robinsons Galleria is the first Robinsons mall to open in public. It opened in 1990. Construction of the mall began in 1988 and completed in the late 1989. Robinsons Galleria is shopping mall and mixed-use complex found at EDSA corner Ortigas Avenue, Mandaluyong City. The mall is adjacent to SM Megamall. To total gross floor area of Robinsons Galleria is approximately 216,000 square meters.
It is a five-level shopping mall and a landmark along EDSA and Ortigas Avenue. it has over 400 shops, restaurants, entertainment and recreation facilities, as well as service centers. The mall is located within a complex comprising of two high-rise office towers known as the Galleria Corporate Center and Robinsons Equitable Tower.
Before the mall was established, it is used to be an open land managed and owned by SSS. In 1986, the part of the land facing EDSA became part of the historic People Power Revolution. It was where the tanks going to Camp Crame and Camp Aguinaldo were stopped. Later in 1987, Filipino Tycoon John Gokongwei purchaed a huge portion of the land from SSS and turned into a shopping mall.
After the mall’s initial opening in 1990, it underwent expansion in 1997, which gave way for the opening of the mall’s North Section. Later in 2005, the mall started its first renovation. in 2010, Robinsons Galleria marked its 20th year. It began renovation the interiors and the exteriors with brand new elevators, as well as the addition of The Veranda.
