REVIEW: Flood by Andrew Vachss

Burke himself is a compelling character. He was, however, compelling, and that goes a long way.

The novel is also significant because it introduces numerous characters who would go on to appear in all of the Burke series: Immaculata Max's girlfriend and later mother to Flower ; rescued child prostitute Terry who would become Mole and Michelle's son ; and Wolfe, who is serving as an Assistant District Attorney when the events in this story take place.

For those who don't know who Vachss is, he's first and foremost a pro-bono lawyer for abused children. He is the fiercest defender of children. If he's in the portrait, andrew vachss flood child abuser is in deep trouble.

I picked up FLOOD, the first novel starting his trademark character Burke and I have been immediately told by his fans that I MIGHT not like it because he was still very green when he wrote this one, but that if I powered through it, the next chapters in the Burke series andrew vachss flood only get better and better.

REVIEW: Flood by Andrew Vachss | The Good, The Bad and The Unread

He's not a hit man. But he shares the same religion I do, which is revenge. Most are career criminals; none allows the law to come before the duty to family.

Vachss originated the term "Circle of Trust. Vachss coined the term to combat the mistaken over-emphasis on "stranger danger," [46] a bias that prevents society from focusing on the most common way children are accessed for victimization: The biggest threat to children is always inside their houses.

The predator with the ski-mask andrew vachss flood grabs the kid out of a van, while a real thing, is a tiny percentage of those who prey upon children. Most victimization of children is within the Circle of Trust — andrew vachss flood necessarily a parent, but somebody who was let into that circle, who can be a counselor, or a coach, or someone at a day-care center.

The biggest danger to children is that they're perceived as property, not human beings.

I was not killed. In his introduction to this novel, he is unabashedly honest that his purpose in writing this story and the subsequent books in the series was to educate people about the brutal and wide-spread reality of child abuse, and of the need to protect our young ones before, in our apathy or ignoranc I was a rabid fan of Andrew Vachss before I even got to page 1 of Flood Thus, after writing a critically acclaimed, but largely unknown, non-fiction work on the subject, Vachss decided to present his case against a fictional backdrop, which telling a compelling story, in order to reach andrew vachss flood wider audience.
